Harrison-Chilhowee Baptist Academy is a Baptist operated college prep school located in the South Knoxville area and offers accommodations for boarding students, grades are K through 12, boarding is offered for grades 7 through 12. Tennessee School for the Deaf, or TSD as its locally known, is also located in the South Knoxville area and offers grades K through 12 and boarding facilities also. TSD has had a very interesting history, for instance it was closed during the Civil War and used as a Confederate hospital. Their web site tells a lot of interesting stories.
Greenway is a private,
independent middle school. We teach an enhanced curriculum, emphasizing hands-on
learning and creative problem-solving. It is the only middle school in the
area where each student is provided with a laptop computer.
Knoxville is home to the University of Tennessee’s main campus. They have a very comprehensive web site that’s well worth a visit. This site also contains the latest on UT’s sports teams.
Pellissippi State is an excellent, state operated, two year community college. It offers the Associate Degree in a diverse range of subjects and also continuing education classes.
Roane State Community College offers classes at various locations around Knoxville and also have a wide range of subjects to choose from.
In addition there are several private colleges within a 20 mile radius of Knoxville.
